Dave Needs A Lady? Lady Antebellum's Dave Haywood is the sixthhottest bachelor in country music (according to The Boot's Twitter and Facebook followers). But while he and his Lady A band mates are basking in the glow of their CMA Award nominations, the guitarist is searching for a date for the big night! The Associated Press reports that Dave asked his mom to go with him via Twitter (because, says Dave, "she loves Twitter for some reason"), but she had to turn him down! "OH WOW!!! YIPPEE!!! What an honor and surprise invitation!!," the proud mom tweeted, even though she's unable to attend. Dave says he's "bummed" his mom can't go to the show but adds that he's now "in the hunt." As for the type of girl he seeking, not just as a CMA date but in general, Dave tellsThe Boot, "I would love to find a girl who loves to travel as much as we do. Someone who likes the ups and downs of a music career. I'm still looking for the right one!" The group's Charles Kelley got a kick out of Dave's online invitation, saying "You know we're in a new age, a new era when you're asking your mom over Twitter to go to an awards show. That is awesome." Also awesome: Lady A is nominated in six categories including Entertainer and Vocal Group of the Year and Album, Single, Song and Music Video of the Year for (appropriately enough in Dave's case!) 'Need You Now.' The 44th Annual Country Music Association Awards will air live from Nashville on November 10. New CD -Get Closer- Coming! Keith Urban will release his seventh studio album, 'Get Closer,' on November 16.And more good Keith Urban news: The CD's debut single, 'Put You in a Song' -- co-written by Keith, Sarah Buxton and Jedd Hughes -- will hit airwaves on September 13. "I've always loved songs about the guy in love with the unattainable girl," says Keith of the new tune. "And the idea that the only chance that this poor guy is ever going to have to get close to the object of his affection is to put her in a song, just struck me. That way he'd be able to take her with him everywhere he goes ... day and night." "On my way to write with Jedd and Sarah, I stopped by this music shop and bought a bouzouki," Keith adds. "I got it out of the case, we got a great groove going on the drum machine, I started playing the opening riff and the song just took off." Sarah has proven to be a good luck charm for Keith. She was also a co-writer on his Grammy-winning hit, 'Stupid Boy.' Sarah and Jedd -- longtime co-writers and buddies -- are now in a duo called Buxton Hughes. Keith's 'Get Closer' project has a tough act to follow. The country superstar's last CD, 'Defying Gravity,' was a multi-platinum-selling smash, producing two No. 1 singles, 'Only You Can Love Me This Way' and 'Sweet Thing' -- also a Grammy winning song for Keith. Keith Bringing Sexy Back Keith Urban topped the country -- and pop -- charts with his 2009 album, 'Defying Gravity' and it's almost a sure thing he'll do it again when the follow-up to that smash album is delivered. There's no word yet on a release date for the new record -- Keith is in the process of selecting songs for the disc, and it's still too soon to tell what kind of collection it will be once it's complete."We recorded a lot of songs and we're deciding which ones may constitute a new album," Keith tells the Burlington Free Press newspaper in Vermont. "At this stage, I would say it's not a radical departure. I can't even put my finger on what it is now. It's just a new record [laughs]. It's perhaps a bit deeper. It's a sexier record. "I love boy/girl songs," Keith adds. "They're timeless." Earlier this year, in an exclusive interview with The Boot, Keith acknowledged that marriage (to actress Nicole Kidman) and fatherhood (their daughter Sunday Rose turned two in July), has certainly had an effect on him, even if those topics, especially fatherhood, haven't directly found their way into his music thus far. "Sunday hasn't appeared in a literal way in a song just yet," Keith told us at the time, "but certainly becoming a father deepens everything in my life, and that's apparent in the songs." While fans await the release of a new album from the superstar, he's also waiting to find out if he'll be a winner at the CMA Awards in November. Keith is nominated for Entertainer and Male Vocalist of the Year. Joe Gets His Fans In Shape! Joe Nichols is following his No.1 hit, 'Gimmie That Girl,' with the brand-new single, 'The Shape I'm In.' But more than just another tune, the Grammy-nominated singer is using the song as an opportunity to find out how his fans really feel. Joe recently launched a new websiterelated to the song, and invites people of all ages to use the page to sound off on how life is for them by writing on virtual postcards that will be posted online."We came up with this idea as a great way to connect people to a larger community," Joe explains (quote via Nashville.com). "Sometimes you just want to get something off your chest, or you want to get creative and have some fun. 'The Shape I'm In' website lets you do that -- you'll see your postcard alongside other people's, and it's all anonymous. I think this is something people will really like -- whether you're just reading other people's reports on what shape they're in, or you get involved and post your own." Joe also has high hopes that 'The Shape I'm In' will help him continue his steady run of hits. "More than something I haven't done yet, I'd just like to continue doing what we're doing, which is making good records and hopefully continue giving the fans what they want and what radio will play," the singer tells The Boot. "I'd like to continue giving the fans what they want and what radio will play. Let's have another No. 1 song!" |
